Medicare Supplement
Medicare Supplement (also known as Medigap) plans usually offer the most comprehensive medical benefits for what Original Medicare does not cover. The premiums are usually more expensive than Medicare Advantage, but the plans are accepted by any doctor or clinic that accepts Medicare.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There are a variety of Medigap plans available and the products are the same from one insurance company to another. Please note that the same Medigap plan can have drastically different pricing among insurance companies. We can help determine if you have the lowest priced Medicare Supplement plan for your situation.
Medicare Supplement plans do not include prescription coverage (Part D) and should be paired with a prescription drug plan to prevent the unpleasant Medicare Late Enrollment Penalty. Extra benefits such as dental, vision, hearing and fitness are often not part of a Medicare supplement plan.
Medicare Supplement plans can get complex in managing several different plans for varying coverage. It is not uncommon for a Medicare Supplement plan to be paired with separate prescription drug, dental, vision and hearing plans. For some, managing multiple plans can become both expensive and overwhelming.
Not always, but often, Medicare Supplement plan premiums increase each year.
